I think a major flaw with Jung is that you can never really confirm any of his theories, especially if you know about them.

For example, if you read about Jung's conception of the anima, your conscious mind now also has a conception of "anima" similar to Jung's. If you subsequently have a dream wherein the anima appears, how can you know whether the anima is the "true" one from the collective unconscious, or if it was simply your conscious conception of the anima developed while reading Jung?

I'm not totally sure how to answer that, I'm still working on it myself and only managed to gain some because I found myself in an environment where if I didn't get some confidence my life would be forfeit.

I fear I'll sound generic when I say this but a few things can help, one would be to not give into fear and that failure can't be avoided, what should be avoided is your desire to quit when you fail and to build personally connections with others, while lowering your defenses and opening up so you're understood better by people.

There will be those who wont get it and make fun of you but if you move forward from it you may find people who are supportive.
Never stop self-development.
