I have never used it in my life and I was online as a kid throughout the 2000s.

People used AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) and MySpace primarily, before Facebook took over in the latter half the 2000s.

my mom used yahoo messenger

its weird to think in pre-2015, dicsord didnt even exist.

it only feels like last week, but at the same time… where were all these people chatting?
there's millions of people in millions of servers, but they didn't exist only a few years ago.

i used email and imageboards

the goto chat service before discord, at least for gamers, was xfire
it shut down in 2014, i dunno why since i can't remember there to have been any competitors to it, okay maybe steam chat? i guess they just weren't able to monetize it

it also had things like a server browser so you could join your friends games directly from the desktop and it would do everything automatically for you which was pretty cool back then

 No.1326

it also had a social component as in you could upload gameplay vidoes (which you could record with the app), i think i uploaded a couple cod2 frag videos, wish i could check my old account but it's all gone…

 No.1327

teamspeak for vc and skype/irc for text
xfire supported limited amount of games
