WHY DON'T YOU SHOW ME THE LITTLE BIT OF SPINE
YOU'VE BEEN SAVING FOR HIS MATTRESS, LOVE
DANCE, DANCE, WE'RE FALLING APART TO HALF TIME
DANCE, DANCE, AND THESE ARE THE LIVES YOU LOVE TO LEAD
DANCE, THIS IS THE WAY THEY'D LOVE
IF THEY KNEW HOW MISERY LOVED ME
WHY DON'T YOU SHOW ME THE LITTLE BIT OF SPINE
YOU'VE BEEN SAVING FOR HIS MATTRESS (MATTRESS, MATTRESS)
I ONLY WANT SYMPATHY IN THE FORM OF YOU
CRAWLING INTO BED WITH ME
DANCE, DANCE, WE'RE FALLING APART TO HALF TIME
DANCE, DANCE, AND THESE ARE THE LIVES YOU LOVE TO LEAD
DANCE, THIS IS THE WAY THEY'D LOVE (WAY THEY'D LOVE)

Gonna listen to this song again.
I saw someone use the story in Judges 19 to discredit the bible.
They simplified it down to "The man gave the angry, drunken men his concubine and they raped her all night long. So the next day, when he arrived home, the man cut her up into 12 pieces with a knife, the end",
This is a classic dimwit take. I looked into it and yes the Benjamites did rape this man's concubine, in fact they also killed her. He did cut her up to 12 pieces to send to the 12 tribes with a message of what happened, and they were so morally enraged that they started a war with the Benjamites.
So the only slightly weird thing about this story at all was the man cutting up his murdered concubine to relay the message of what the Benjamites did to her, but it's understandable in context and your modern fee fees don't matter.

So the book of Judges takes place after the Hebrews got out of Egypt and took over Canaan, forming the new state of Israel, but before the first king of Israel.
So it was ruled by 12 different tribes which each had judges overseeing them (title drop). Israel was basically a federation at the time.
The man with the concubine was from the tribe of Levi traveling through a city of the tribe of Benjamin. The other tribes heard of the crime that was committed and went to that Benjamite city asking for the rapists/murderers, but they didn't cooperate and instead actually became belligerent.
Again all this is very understandable, the only "weird" thing was the Levite man dismembering his concubine and mailing her body parts. Perhaps, if he only sent a messenger to the other tribes telling of the crime, it wouldn't have caused such moral outrage and calls to action?

>>569613You have it all wrong. Canaanites wiped out nearly all biblical Hebrews and appropriated their entire culture. Europeans are the only true descendants of the lost tribes of Israel that ventured north centuries ago but who were never aware of their heritage. The rest that stayed in the promised land were all either genocided or enslaved by Canaanites and later Edomites.
