Okay I did it /a/.

I actually downloaded and watched Boku no Pico. I figured if I was going to recommend it everytime a /r/ thread pops up I would be able to make a more convincing argument if I actually knew what happens.

You know what?

It was good.

If you ignore the yaoi, what you are left with is an engaging story, beautiful visuals, a solid soundtrack, quality voice work, and great direction.

I was expecting it to be cheap, and ugly, thinking that since it was catered to a certain audience who would buy up anything so long as it fit their fetish, that they wouldn't waste time and money actually making it good.

I was wrong.

If it had not have had the subject matter that it did, this would have been one of the most finely crafted anime ever. The sheer amount of work that must have gone into making it is staggering, especially when you consider it in the framework of it's subject matter.

( Questions include spoilers ) Okay guys, I know you must get these threads all the time and are sick of them, but what the FUCK did I just watch. I flamed this for ages because of the hate that Shinji got from /a/ and friends (I tend to shy away from animes with betamax MC's) but it was amazing, even though he was still a faggot 'till the end. I just want to ask a couple questions that I had after the End of Evangelion. Also a synopsis of it from a EVA veteran would be welcome too, I understood most of it apart from these parts.

what purpose did the Lance of Longinus serve?
why was Rei there? was she there just for the dummy plugs? or did she have the essence of lilth/adam inside her?
was the second impact caused by the process of getting Adam to his embryonic state?
how did NERV have lilth as well? or was lilth the white giant that was crucified?
why did SEELE attack NERV when they both wanted the world to be reborn?
why did Shinji try to strangle Asuka even though he wanted to see his friends again?
what were the Dead Sea Scrolls?

Sure, the fanbase is shit, as all fanbases are, and it's entry-level.

But there are far worse shows that you can watch in this season alone and the English dubs for it are watchable, enjoyable even. Which is a miracle in and of itself.

Is it just to stave off newfags? If so, why isn't Kill la Kill stigmatized in the same fashion?
