My honest take

If you:

like PS1-era JRPGs
enjoy atmosphere and weird storytelling
don’t mind jank

→ it’s absolutely worth playing

If you:

want tight combat like Final Fantasy VII or Vagrant Story
get annoyed by bad localization

Players: often really like it

Example:

Critics score ~5/10 range
User scores around 8/10

That gap usually means:
