I just put in water, I haven't researched putting in other stuff yet. Dark soy sauce makes it taste salty anyway. I have a Solac rice cooker which I bought used. Simple stuff yet good.

I bought japanese (Yamasa) dark soy sauce and it has alcolol in it and smells like it too!!!
