>>30326The Bonzi Buddy voice engine uses advanced formant synthesis and plosive accelleration. These features are supported in DX8 nicely, but WIN2K often has a hard time allowing programs to directly access the audio chipset because of the hardware abstraction layer (this isn't the only program that has trouble with this BTW). This limits the "blast capacity" of a given program (in your case, the Bonsi Buddy program). The good thing is it's easy to fix.
(1) right click on the desktop and select NEW and then TEXT DOCUMENT
(2) name this file BonziSynth.ini
(3) open this file using notepad and cut and paste he following information into it.
[BONZISYNTH INIT]
YMF754 UNMUTE BONZIVOICE
BLASTCAPACITY=TRUE
BONZISYNTH=FORMANT(17)
BONZISYNTH=PLOSIVE(4)
INIT(YMF754)/BLT=AWOL
DXHAL(ver)=FALSE
[EOL]
(4) Now SAVE and put that file in the root of your C: drive (assuming C is your system drive - the WINNT folder should be in there too).
(5) Reboot your computer
If this fix doesn't work, you can always remove the program until a more compatible version of the program comes out. I personally love my little Bonsi Parrot. I have many funny stories about Mr Bonzi talking to me when listening to my MP3s and scaring the crap out of me with his banter. Oh Bonzi Buddy…
