I opened it in photoshop to see if they were the same color (where the colored rectangles are) and they are. Lighting is weird like that. That said, the original dress picture was actually blue and black, and people who saw it as white and gold just didn't have as strong of eyesight. Incidentally, I once looked at the picture while I was intoxicated, and saw it as white and gold, until I sobered up and it returned to being blue and black.

But this anime pic proves it's not stronger eyesight and it's obviously one of those subconscious illusion things like the woman and the base or whatever. Our brains are tricked into thinking the dress is under dark lighting, we just have to somehow trick or subconscious into thinking it's actually under bright lighting that is making the dress a lighter blue and black

Also if you take the colors from the original image and put them in a hex color thing or just look at them cut out the colors are the same as how white and gold see them. It's literally a deeper level illusion than the parrot/woman typical psychology neuroscience memes

it depends on where you think the light is coming from. When I first saw it I thought there was a strong light coming from behind the dress which made it look white and gold, but when I studied the picture more I realized it was just a glare effect and the dress was lit from all sides and therefore blue and black.
