"Mind is the name of the first self-discovery, the first self-discovery, the first unification of the
divine; i. e., of the uncanny, the spooks, the “powers above.” Our fresh feeling of youth, this feeling of
self, now defers to nothing; the world is discredited, for we are above it, we are mind.
Now for the first time we see that hitherto we have not looked at the world intelligently at all, but
only stared at it.
We exercise the beginnings of our strength on natural powers. We defer to parents as a natural
power; later we say: Father and mother are to be forsaken, all natural power to be counted as riven.
They are vanquished. For the rational, i.e. the “intellectual” man, there is no family as a natural power;
a renunciation of parents, brothers, etc., makes its appearance. If these are “born again” as intellectual,
rational powers, they are no longer at all what they were before.
And not only parents, but men in general, are conquered by the young man; they are no hindrance
to him, and are no longer regarded; for now he says: One must obey God rather than men.
From this high standpoint everything “earthly” recedes into contemptible remoteness;for the stand-
point is — the heavenly.
The attitude is now altogether reversed; the youth takes up an intellectual position, while the boy,
who did not yet feel himself as mind, grew up on mindless learning. The former does not try to get
hold of things (e.g. to get into his head the data of history), but of the thoughts that lie hidden in things,
and so, e.g., of the spirit of history. On the other hand, the boy understands connections no doubt, but
not ideas, the spirit;therefore he strings together whatever can be learned, without proceeding appropriate
and theoretically, i.e. without looking for ideas.
As in childhood one had to overcome the resistance of the laws of the world, so now in everything
that he proposes he is met by an objection of the mind, of reason, of his own conscience. “That is
unreasonable, unchristian, unpatriotic,” etc., cries conscience to us, and — frightens us away from it.
Not the might of the avenging Eumenides, not Poseidon’s wrath, not God, far as he sees the hidden,
not the father’s rod of punishment, do we fear, but — conscience.
We “run after our thoughts” now, and follow their commands just as before we followed parental,
human ones. Our course of action is determined by our thoughts (ideas, conceptions, faith) as it is in
childhood by the commands of our parents.
For all that, we were already thinking when we were children, only our thoughts were not fleshless,
abstract, absolute, i. e., NOTHING BUT THOUGHTS, a heaven in themselves, a pure world of thought,
logical thoughts.
On the contrary, they had been only thoughts that we had about a thing; we thought of the thing
so or so. Thus we may have thought “God made the world that we see there,” but we did not think
of (“search”) the “depths of the Godhead itself”; we may have thought “that is the truth about the
matter,” but we do not think of Truth itself, nor unite into one sentence “God is truth.” The “depths
of the Godhead, who is truth,” we did not touch. Over such purely logical, i.e. theological questions,
“What is truth?”Pilate does not stop, though he does not therefore hesitate to as certain individual
case “what truth there is in the thing,” i.e. whether the thing is true.
Any thought bound to a thing is not yet nothing but a thought, absolute thought.
To bring to light the pure thought, or to be of its party, is the delight of youth; and all the shapes
of light in the world of thought, like truth, freedom, humanity, Man, etc., illumine and inspire the
youthful soul.
But, when the spirit is recognized as the essential thing, it still makes a difference whether the spirit
is poor or rich, and therefore one seeks to become rich in spirit; the spirit wants to spread out so as to
found its empire — an empire that is not of this world, the world just conquered. Thus, then, it longs
16
to become all in all to itself; i.e., although I am spirit, I am not yet perfected spirit, and must first seek
the complete spirit."

Thus a search for "american couple" gets african americans whilst "couple" gets white (presumably) americans.

It used to be very common to have to explain to people that South Africa was different and more advanced than most of Africa, and there was a lot of white people. With how far it's fallen, you can't keep up that narrative.
>poverty, unemployment, income inequality, life expectancy, land ownership, and educational achievement have worsened since the end of apartheid and the election of the African National Congress. They fired almost all the whites working government jobs and replaced them with blacks, which has led to extreme decay in infrastructure and public order. The government forced whites off the arable land, and many of the white farmers were murdered by blacks. The funny thing is they're not actually intelligent enough to farm, so they're now facing food shortages.
It's only 9% white now. It's no better than any other shit hole African country now.

How is it that the strange idea of making the law produce
what it does not contain—prosperity, in a positive sense, wealth,
science, religion—should ever have gained ground in the political
world? The modern politicians, particularly those of the Socialist
school, found their different theories upon one common hypothesis;
and surely a more strange, a more presumptuous notion,
could never have entered a human brain.
They divide mankind into two parts. Men in general, except
one, form the first; the politician himself forms the second, which
is by far the most important.
In fact, they begin by supposing that men are devoid of any
principle of action, and of any means of discernment in themselves;
that they have no initiative; that they are inert matter, passive
particles, atoms without impulse; at best a vegetation indifferent
to its own mode of existence, susceptible of assuming, from
an exterior will and hand an infinite number of forms, more or
less symmetrical, artistic, and perfected.
Moreover, every one of these politicians does not hesitate to
assume that he himself is, under the names of organizer, discoverer,
legislator, institutor or founder, this will and hand, this universal
initiative, this creative power, whose sublime mission it is
to gather together these scattered materials, that is, men, into
society.
Starting from these data, as a gardener according to his
caprice shapes his trees into pyramids, parasols, cubes, cones,
vases, espaliers, distaffs, or fans; so the Socialist, following his
chimera, shapes poor humanity into groups, series, circles, subcircles,
honeycombs, or social workshops, with all kinds of variations.
And as the gardener, to bring his trees into shape, needs
hatchets, pruning hooks, saws, and shears, so the politician, to
bring society into shape, needs the forces which he can only find
in the laws; the law of tariffs, the law of taxation, the law of assistance,
and the law of education.
It is so true, that the Socialists look upon mankind as a subject
for social experiments, that if, by chance, they are not quite
certain of the success of these experiments, they will request a
portion of mankind, as a subject to experiment upon. It is well
known how popular the idea of trying all systems is, and one of
their chiefs has been known seriously to demand of the Constituent
Assembly a parish, with all its inhabitants, upon which to
make his experiments.
It is thus that an inventor will make a small machine before he
makes one of the regular size. Thus the chemist sacrifices some
substances, the agriculturist some seed and a corner of his field,
to make trial of an idea.
But think of the difference between the gardener and his
trees, between the inventor and his machine, between the chemist
and his substances, between the agriculturist and his seed! The
Socialist thinks, in all sincerity, that there is the same difference
between himself and mankind.
No wonder the politicians of the nineteenth century look
upon society as an artificial production of the legislator’s genius.
This idea, the result of a classical education, has taken possession
of all the thinkers and great writers of our country.
To all these persons, the relations between mankind and the
legislator appear to be the same as those that exist between the
clay and the potter.
Moreover, if they have consented to recognize in the heart of
man a capability of action, and in his intellect a faculty of discernment,
they have looked upon this gift of God as a fatal one, and
thought that mankind, under these two impulses, tended fatally
toward ruin. They have taken it for granted that if abandoned to
their own inclinations, men would only occupy themselves with
religion to arrive at atheism, with instruction to come to ignorance,
and with labor and exchange to be extinguished in misery.
No.3296
Happily, according to these writers, there are some men,
termed governors and legislators, upon whom Heaven has
bestowed opposite tendencies, not for their own sake only, but for
the sake of the rest of the world.
Whilst mankind tends to evil, they incline to good; whilst
mankind is advancing toward darkness, they are aspiring to
enlightenment; whilst mankind is drawn toward vice, they are
attracted by virtue. And, this granted, they demand the assistance
of force, by means of which they are to substitute their own tendencies
for those of the human race.
It is only needful to open, almost at random, a book on philosophy,
politics, or history, to see how strongly this idea—the
child of classical studies and the mother of socialism—is rooted in
our country; that mankind is merely inert matter, receiving life,
organization, morality, and wealth from power; or, rather, and
still worse—that mankind itself tends toward degradation, and is
only arrested in its tendency by the mysterious hand of the legislator.
Classical conventionalism shows us everywhere, behind
passive society, a hidden power, under the names of Law, or Legislator
(or, by a mode of expression which refers to some person
or persons of undisputed weight and authority, but not named),
which moves, animates, enriches, and regenerates mankind.
We will give a quotation from Bossuet:
"One of the things which was the most strongly impressed
(by whom?) upon the mind of the Egyptians, was the love
of their country. . . . Nobody was allowed to be useless to
the State; the law assigned to every one his employment,
which descended from father to son. No one was permitted
to have two professions, nor to adopt another. . . . But there
was one occupation which was obliged to be common to all,
this was the study of the laws and of wisdom; ignorance of
religion and the political regulations of the country was
excused in no condition of life. Moreover, every profession
had a district assigned to it (by whom?). . . . Amongst good
laws, one of the best things was, that everybody was taught
to observe them (by whom?). Egypt abounded with wonderful
inventions, and nothing was neglected which could render
life comfortable and tranquil."
Thus men, according to Bossuet, derive nothing from themselves;
patriotism, wealth, inventions, husbandry, science—all
come to them by the operation of the laws, or by kings. All they
have to do is to be passive. It is on this ground that Bossuet takes
exception when Diodorus accuses the Egyptians of rejecting
wrestling and music. “How is that possible,” says he, “since these
arts were invented by Trismegistus?”
It is the same with the Persians:
"One of the first cares of the prince was to encourage agriculture.
. . . As there were posts established for the regulation
of the armies, so there were offices for the superintending
of rural works. . . . The respect with which the Persians
were inspired for royal authority was excessive."
The Greeks, although full of mind, were no less strangers to
their own responsibilities; so much so, that of themselves, like
dogs and horses, they would not have ventured upon the most
simple games. In a classical sense, it is an undisputed thing that
everything comes to the people from without.
"The Greeks, naturally full of spirit and courage, had been
early cultivated by kings and colonies who had come from
Egypt. From them they had learned the exercises of the
body, foot races, and horse and chariot races. . . . The best
thing that the Egyptians had taught them was to become
docile, and to allow themselves to be formed by the laws for
the public good."

I ordered a bunch of bottles of Everclear when I was a teenager before. They make you show ID and sign for the package though, the first time the delivery man didn't care and didn't ask me for ID, but the second time they did ask.
We also received a shipment of wine as a gift one time. He asked "are you 21?", I said "yeah" even though I was 20, and then he just asked for my signature (the fucking electronic pad was broken though so all he got was one small line for a signature).
