Finally got caught up with all the shows released so far.

I've only skimmed through most shows, so don't get too offended if I call something you like crap, but basically, everything so far is probably crap except these two shows (don't assume I'm hyping these shows):

>Mitsuboshi Colors:

Modern day Ichigo Mashimaro.

>Kokkoku

I wondered why this felt so different than every other show, the studio is new, this is their first TV series. Been waiting for some fresh blood to make something good.

My biggest disappointment is the new Cardcaptor Sakura.

Painful reminder that hand drawn anime from 20 years ago looks infinitely better than current-day digital anime.

Very hard to follow anything that's going on, nothing feels like it matters, feels nonsensical. Maybe if you like this you're just smarter than me.

Second biggest disappointment, Violet Evergarden. I have high expectations from Koyanus.

This was awfully boring and hard to follow. Attempting to be very serious without being good enough for that.

Main female protagonist is basically a monotone autistic low-IQ robot. Extremely bland, void of any personality whatsoever. Maybe she's supposed to gain personality later, but I really doubt it. If character development was a scale from 1 to 10, they're starting off at -5

Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku

I actually really liked this.

It's another "guy is transported into MMORPG world" SAO-clone anime. Why do they keep making these? Cause they work I guess. Nothing wrong with using an overdone plot, it's about how you do it.

"Zombie outbreak" has been used as a plot countless times, but I Am Hero is still a great and unique story.

Darling in FranXX

I liked this and thought it was unironically deep until I saw the mecha designs.

I really don't like the mecha designs. Otherwise this seems to be a pretty good anime. It stole a lot of themes from Evangelion, not that I'm complaining about that.

 No.22107

Pop Team Epic started alright but it was hit and miss to begin with and this last episode was seeing fewer hits. I don't like how they have the second half of the episode be a replay of the first with different voices and then the second episode had different voices again.

Mitsuboshi Colours is fun to watch. I'm not sure how much more I can say on it but I like it.

Darling in the FranXX has potential. Im worried about it suffering from being a TRIGGER show. They always tend to fall apart in the second half & i stop caring.

Violet Evergarden hurts my eyes. I think i care enough about the story to watch the rest. The guy's VA is Dio, so ill just pretend he is Dio. The girl is kind of autistic(ute), but they all are at this point.

Citrus is gay lesbians. Will watch mostly because i like gyarus.

Dagashi Kashi is good, but its only 12mins so im pissed. The new art style didnt bother me. The only girl who looked any different was virgin slayer.

Antarctic girls is my favourite of the season so far. Black Hime cut girl had a lot of personality & so do the others. I always wanted to go to Antarctic anyways.

Yurucamp is my choice for SoL blob girls this season. Good show for someone who likes being /out/.

Afraid to watch Pop Team Epic from seeing screengrabs.

Mistsuboshi Colors & Ryuuou no Oshigoto! would be the loli shows. Colors feels too ripped from Ichigo Mashimaro. I have trouble identifying new characters & can only relate former stereotypes onto them.

So far 3.5/10

By "stasis", they're talking about stopping time, but they can move around freely.

Spoiler:

So the bad guys were watching them with a hidden camera, and entered the stasis at the same time as them. Gramps said that even 1/1000 second difference is enough that you would enter a different world. Apparently also if you stop stasis, and re-enter a couple seconds later, anyone who wasn't frozen that you left in the old stasis will be trapped in that stasis forever? Wtf? I think gramps was exaggerating or just wrong.

Koi wa Ameagari no You ni is pretty good. I'd put it above Citrus depending on how well the romance in these shows plays out. The art style is a bit cleaner and i love noodly legs. I think ill enjoy the age gap more than the yuri.

I have no idea what direction Beatless is going in. The first episode seemed like generic shit with girls in battle outfits. By the start of the second episode he has his own personal (robot?) girl that becomes a fashion idol based on which outfit(program?) she is wearing. Something about jacking the subconscious of humans with cute soulless robot girls.

Takunomi is ok, About beer and chirstmas cakes. I think it is one big advertisement. If its about food or beer, (candy too*,see Dagashi Kasahi S2) i will tend to stomach it.

Meme girl of season is likely pink hair girl in Yuru Camp, maybe the FranXX girl too. I just like pink hair honestly.

Apparently it's a 24 episode show too. I haven't watched the second episode yet, but I hope this will be a more action oriented "automation/robots strike back at humans" plot, rather than robo waifu "DearS" type plot.

It's definitely not a harem.

It's basically a mecha show, where a boy/girl both have to pilot the mecha because it's a metaphor for sex.

This metaphor was pretty subtle in the first episode, but not subtle at all afterwards. It becomes very obvious that they're constantly making references to sexual performance and piloting the mecha.

The mecha designs are pretty cringe IMO. Still one of the best shows this season, easily. Definitely the most popular show this season on /a/.

An example on how to make a browser-compatible encode of an ED with ffmpeg, out of a typical 1080p HorribleSubs release, while not transferring any softsubs, copying the AAC audio (no audio quality loss), x264 settings for a good video quality and compression, downscaling to 720p with lanczos, hardcoding the subs, and specifying the exact key frames when the ED starts and stops.

The -preset option is supposed to decide compression and filesize, it does not effect quality, -preset ultrafast is supposed to be the fastest encoding option, but the worst at compression, which means producing a larger video file. I ran this through same encoding process but with -preset ultrafast and got a 47MB file.

However, while -preset placebo is the slowest compression option, which is supposed to produce the best filesize, but it is VERY slow, it produced almost the same filesize as -preset veryfast

Placebo: 17.3MB (16.49MiB)
Veryfast: 17.7MB (16.88MiB)

This would make a much bigger difference in longer videos, but for something short like encoding EDs, I would recommend just using preset veryfast, or the default, medium.

Also it's a really good ED.

The audio is already in AAC, which I can't put it in a webm container, I would have to transcode it to Vorbis or Opus audio.

Also I would have to encode the video to VP8 or VP9, and basically to get the same video quality, I would have to produce a much larger video file. I'm not sure if the formats are just worse than H.264, but I know the encoders available for vp8/vp9 aren't nearly as good as x264.

There's something really strange about Death March episode 7.

It's not drawn or animated by the same people…

Extreme QUALITY, 5 second still frames with only mouths moving, nonsensical and impossible to follow.

There's some scenes that were drawn by the regular staff, and it's glaringly obvious when you see them, because most of the episode was obviously drawn and animated by someone else, perhaps outsourced to China or something.

I swear every episode before this one was fine, but someone else made most of this episode.

Me being "indignant" isn't quite as funny as you seemingly going out of your way to not see what I'm saying. My point is that it's up to the consumers to hold creators to any proper standard. If the overall quality of the anime being made today has dropped- and it has- it's because the consumers standards have dropped. Otaku nerd faggots seem to be more than happy with a show that focuses on how the girls are just so cute (and pretty much all anime girls are cute anyways) rather than having a show that has any actual substance to it.

And it's not as if I expect every anime to be a 10/10 masterpiece, but I at least want something. Even a shitty hack like Rumiko Takahashi could could up with fun, interesting settings and characters instead of making using the same tropes and achetypical characters that have been done over and over again. Rumiko would just use the same shitty jokes over and over again and drag her series into the trash.

Authors can see what the "memes" are, they know how to pander to their consumers and get them to buy the merch. It reminds me of Hillary Clinton doing a stereo typical black pastor voice when she wanted to pander to blacks. Who would want that? Anyone goes along with it should be ashamed for allowing themselves to be strung along like that and enabling more behavior like it.

>It's quite funny you're being this indignant at the state of an industry you aren't part of even as a customer

But it has been like this forever. Anime is made to make money. It does this by pandering to the obsessive otaku market. It's as simple as that.
