Simply because you have much less freedom and features, yes.

Almost entirely safer in the sense that it is keeping you safe from yourself, by restricting you.

The Apple app store is more strictly curated. It's much harder for a small developer to get their app on it.

On Google Play, as a developer it's much easier to get your app on there that you update with malware, and when you do, you also have a phone OS that has much more freedom and features to do bad things.

I still prefer Android over Apple phones by infinity.
