I showed Alien Nine to some relatives, and they weren't really fond of the protagonist. The pathos of the second episode's climax, where all the borgs die, didn't really land on them the way it did for me. I feel like people aren't generally sympathetic to Yuri, although I'm personally partial to her.

It's like being the straight man against the opressive absurdity of life. You see a homeless man on the street and refuse to give him money, citing the systemic issues which cause his issues, and everybody scoffs at you like it's not obvious fact.

anyway I kinda regretted watching it I was tricked by the cute character designs

I even read the manga after the OVA ended on such a cliff hanger hoping it would end happily, can't even really remember anymore how the plot developed from there onwards but I think it got even more depressing

I watched this 100 years ago only vaguely remember it.

The homeless organizations you would donate to are scam artists that steal money from homeless people basically. 100% of the money you donate goes to their own pockets or wasted on stupid bullshit.
