You have 3 non-retarded choices right now when buying a CPU:
1) Ryzen 3600 or better Ryzen 3000
2) Intel 9900K(S)
3) Wait for newer CPUs
Buying any Intel CPU other than a 9900K(S) is retarded because you're paying more money for hardware vulnerabilities and less performance in both single core and multi core, compared to Ryzen 3000.
The 9900K(S) is the only CPU that flat out beats any Ryzen 3000, for people willing to pay $500+ for the best possible CPU for gaming/emulation.
AMD cards are worse than Nvidia in every way even in price/performance, except for Linux where the open-source driver is good and my preferred driver.

A 1050 ti is much newer than a 7970 but the 1050 ti is low end and the 7970 was a higher end card when it was new.
