Ephedrine is still legal in the US.

It's just highly restricted, requires ID, and puts you on a watch list, because (pseudo) ephedrine is the main ingredient in cooking meth.

It's also legal to grow ephedra. You know instead of people buying large amounts of pseudoephedrine to make meth, perhaps they could just grow ephedra plants, and synthesize it from that.
