 No.22556

I'm downloading Nier Replicant (with english patch) now to see if it will work well with my hardware on RPCS3.

For some reason, it's a 66% performance increase on Linux than Windows with this one game. For once Linux wins in gaming…

https://rpcs3.net/blog/2018/01/03/progress-report-december-2017/

>In fact, performance is improved as well and it is certainly possible to basically perform like a real PS3 in the range of 20 – 30 FPS at this point, given a modern CPU with AVX 2 and TSX support. Except this is only partially true. See, the above screenshots were taken on Linux, and the game indeed performs as shown there. However for the same user with the same hardware, and really everyone else too, performance is only about a third of this on Windows. This was investigated by kd-11 but no conclusions could quickly be drawn as to why this is the case. In general RPCS3 performs roughly the same on Windows and Linux, though it is known that some games can run a few percent faster on Linux due to the nature of the operating system. That there is such a massive difference in Nier is unexplainable for now though.

Didn't even know there was a ps3 emulator. How well does it run? I have a gtx 970 will I be good?

Your GPU barely matters, almost any even relatively new GPU is good enough for 1080p/4K internal res. The main thing you want is a GPU that supports Vulkan (it does have OpenGL support, but Vulkan is recommended), and literally any GPU that supports Vulkan is more than good enough.

Basically it's very CPU intensive. Last I checked, even $1,500 CPUs aren't good enough to run certain games like Persona 5 at constant 30/60fps all times.

However Demon Souls can be run well without a particularly powerful processor.

Do these fucking emulators use more than one core yet? I have a4790k and a 4930k but because they only use one or two cores my 4790k is better which is annoying because I want to sell it

Wow you're rich, you should give me money.

If you're not lying and actually have hardware like this, then yeah anything that's considered playable will work to basically the full extent capable right now.

RPCS3 is well multi-threaded and will use all cores/threads you have.

I paid 300 for the 4930k three years ago, the 4790k was like 200. I'm a frugal Jew that wastes too much time looking for the best deals. Also good to know that it uses all cores, I'm gonna sell my 4790k and z97 motherboard, but most of the games I play are ps2 and that emulator only uses 2 cores

>im not rich i only spent 500$ instead of 700$ on those cpus
>im a poorfag just like you guys

Yeah I'm rich lol, I actually have aps3 with cfw so I don't even know why I care about this emulator lmao

Well, I think I get playable fps on my hardware, except for the 1 special move which takes me down to 10fps if I charge it up.

Controls/controller work well, audio is fine.

However graphics very broken on my system, no option seems to fix significantly.

Pic related is what I'm seeing, this is what it's supposed to look like: https://youtu.be/duWOqZU7uhw?t=6m57s

Yeah I'll just play it on my PS3. I'm wondering does the emulator work with ps2 games? It would be nice to use all cores and threads on my hexacore

 No.22572

I wish cemu used all cores botw would look incredible

Here it is going down to 10-15fps with the special move.

>>22571
No, I don't think it ever will.

Probably just better to hope for PCSX2 to get better, PCSX2 can/does use all 8 of my cores/threads though. For some reason it just tends to use 1 or 2 cores way more than the others.

PCSX2 is pretty good now, I'd rather play it than a real PS2 for the large majority of games.

Wait really are you sure? So will it actually go even faster with my 4930k??

Holy shit cemu is multicore now!!! OMG I'm setting up my six core this week then, time to sell my quad core

It's a shame this will never get a console port in the west. Maybe in 5 years I can afford a computer that is good enough to emulate ps3 games at more than 20 fps

Oh it only uses 3 I think. Fuck I think my current CPU is probably better for emulation

There will probably be some HD collection eventually released

Just get a PS3. It has no region lock, and you can find the slim model with a controller and all of the cords for only like $90 now.

I paid 40 dollars for my fat one and it had old firmware

Which CPU should I keep whatmin

>>22586
The 4930k obviously.

You have a 2011 socket overclockable Intel processor with 12 threads, I'm jelly.

 No.22591

>>22590
But what can I even do with it

 No.22592

Won't it be worse for gaming especially emulation

 No.22595

Wow six core 12 thread is the new standard and mines slow as shit next to the 8700k

 No.22596

Maybe I should just sell both and buy that

I played Nier Gestalt. I can't read japanese though.
