How would you know? Are you a ghost?

What if you kill yourself then wake up in the afterlife? What if you're a non-physical soul implanted in a physical shell, and when you kill yourself you're still you, except without the physical shell, and you're not in the physical universe anymore?

That's the mainstream religious belief yes.

They don't call it a simulation, but the physical universe, and more specifically Earth, is a very elaborate video game designed by God where souls are put in humans to test them, and when the human body dies they go back home to be judged.
