i used to use a python script for jschan that counted tokens (obfuscating characters) and had two modes a threshold mode where it would calculate the ratio between tokens and an entries mode where it would just count the consecutive entries and ban the person after this configurable limit was reached
it worked pretty well for the brief time i used it, but the script used to bug out a lot and would just crash and i never really looked into why that was happening
the spammer would probably just start posting images with links in them at some point if i kept it up
anyway, i don't really think things like this are really even necessary in general as long as the spam gets deleted within a reasonable timeframe
