I think I should retire from the whole funposting business.
It's a case of everybody trying to be unique by spoiling a witty gimmick, yet they end up being one of those background posts that makes you sigh and drift to mindless scrolling; just another day at office.
I think the underlying intent behind these mass ironic 'fun' 'cute' 'babby' posting was that it's a contrast to embedded hostile nature of every anonymous imageboard, sort of an insurgency against the antagonistic culture of the Chan's. To think that there's someone who'd post niceties on a site with a layout known for belligerent anonymity is just ironic, right? The fact that all of you probably came before the Big Chan had been associated with /b/ and had taken the /b/-/v/-/a/-/jp/ route reinforce this theory.
Thing is, even with all the twists and spin-off gimmicks with it the whole 'ironic' posting is bound to go stale. Whether a lot of people (especially new ones) might interpret it in face value or some kind of passive-aggressive response, the irony of enthusiastic exclamation marks on a site known outside of its community full of unwelcoming profanity and juvenile inanity is still palpable, hence the appeal of the /jp/-borne 'ironic shitposting', after that you end up with a bunch of kids and homos who seem to have the need to broadcast their new meme sexual identity. It's the /jp/ prophecy proven right, you see, like it's almost how the universe works.
I'm very sorry to take a huge steaming pile of blogging shit on this board, this is a part of my testament. From now on I will stop being ironic, or rather, take another descending step into irony. Sincerity will now be my forte, a sort of an insurgency against the insincere kindness within the culture of the /jp/verse also pervading the Big Chan. This post is sincere, coming from within my heart. A sincere post on a board filled with irony, the ultimate ironic posting.
